Downtown Osaka: Nipponbashi & Shinsekai Neighborhoods Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the time of your choice, we’ll begin this comprehensive free walking tour of Osaka at the designated meeting point. Are you ready to discover one of Japan’s most fascinating cities?
To start, we’ll explore the oldest part of Osaka. Our first stop will be at Yasaka Namba, a Shinto shrine known for its lion’s head. It stands a whopping 12 meters (39.4 ft) tall! After visiting this shrine, we’ll take a stroll down Sennichimae Doguyasuji, a picturesque street lined with shops selling kitchenware, Japanese amulets, and food replicas.
Next, we’ll head to the Dotonbori Canal to see the iconic Glico sign. Nearby is Hozenji, a revered Buddhist temple where we’ll see a unique, moss-covered sculpture of the deity Mizukake Fudo.
We’ll continue our tour by visiting Kuromon Market, Osaka’s most important market. After discovering the most popular products, we’ll head to Nipponbashi. This district, also known as Den Den Town, is famous for being the manga and anime district. There, we’ll see the storefronts of the geekiest shops selling collectible figures and retro games.
From this area, we’ll head to Shinsekai, a quirky neighborhood with a retro-futuristic vibe, where we’ll take a stroll to discover its striking architecture.
Finally, after a 3-hour tour, we’ll conclude the free tour in this district, beneath the iconic Tsutenkaku Tower.
